Oldies But Goodies!

Here's an image I started a while back... finally got around to finishing it. I was trying to go for a 1950's era singer and I knew from the get-go that I wanted a sepia color scheme.

I couldn't decide which one I liked more, so here's both.

They vant to suck your blood!

I recently saw an X-files episode about vampires and rented Priest, so I felt the need to draw some vampires.

I'll post a colored version soon, as well as some other  drawings.

Batter up!

2H and 6B graphite, green polychromos, brush pen, ballpoint, photoshop

photoshop
Over the last couple of weeks, during my free time, I been working on this piece and a couple of others. It started as a doodle but quickly turned into a pain in the butt. I struggled a lot with the pose and trying to make it feel right. At one point I thought I had it, but then I re-watched David Colman's character design DVD and then I started to ask myself so many questions about the design, feeling, what reaction I was getting from it and if it was what I wanted. It eventually became so complex and frustrating that I decided to try to get back to my initial drawing and stop thinking about it so much and just draw.

I'm still bothered by a few design aspects but I'm glad I got through it and managed to learn from my mistakes, hopefully.

My favorite part of completing a piece is getting to color it. With this piece I tried something different with the rendering and I think it paid of.

P.s. Save Versions! (had a little mishap and lost a chunk of work)

Lets try this again!

The image was so huge that blogger shrunk it down a lot. Here is a different version that I hope will work.
I had to change the composition to make it all fit but I'm not satisfied with how it turned out. I think the previous version works better in terms of readability.

Markers and photoshop!

I decided to post some more marker drawings and make a sort of composition out of all of them.
The newly added ones were done over the past couple of months.

p.s. on a semi-related note, in middle school and junior high, my nickname was markers.

It's been a while

Its great that I can finally post again. I recently changed computers and had to set everything up. Its frustrating trying to setup my xp era printer and scanner to my windows 7 system, there's so many extra steps.

I can finally post some of my traditional drawings.

These are marker renderings that I've done over the last couple of weeks. They include some Photoshop touch-up because I accidentally dropped water on one of them and various color changes.

Here's a couple of drawings that I did on the back of my completed sketchbook. The back cover had a nice brown color, so I wanted to try some tonal drawing.

Gotta start somewhere!

I’ve had this blog site for a while now but I haven’t gotten around to posting anything. I attribute this mainly to fear, fear of trying something new and fear of letting the world see my art, although I can’t say that laziness isn’t a factor either. =)

I visit numerous art blogs every day, getting inspired to create art or just enjoying the art that others create. I feel its time that I start doing the same.

This drawing was all done in photoshop.
